Classification systems
Books and journals are partially sorted by different classification systems. Corresponding references can be found on the result lists of the search in the bonnus portal. Conversely, some classification systems can be used as search criteria.

DigiBib is a web portal of the Bonn University Library offering numerous bibliographic services, amongst others a metasearch engine for several catalogues, databases, eJournals and interlending possibilities. Access DigiBib

eBooks are electronically available books.
Estate collections
The estate collections of several persons form a special collection that the library came into existence of after the Second World War. Estate collections are not public.

Group study rooms
In the library, there are group study rooms which can be used for reading and learning purposes. In principle, it is allowed to talk in the group study rooms. However, please take into account that other persons want to work in the rooms.

Interlending
Interlending is a service that you can order publications not available in the Library of Mathematics at.
For using this service, a user account of the bonnus portal is required. If the ordered publications have arrived, you will be informed by mail or e-mail.
Internet access
In the library, there are multiple internet computers. Furthermore, you can access the internet also by your own laptop. See also internet access
Internet computers
In the library, there are many computer working desks. Every room of the library has multiple computer working desks for searching in the bonnus portal or in the internet. Further information can be found on the page internet access.

LAN-access
You can access the internet in the library also with your private laptop. See also internet access
Library card
A library card is required to borrow the library's books. There is no library card required for reading the publications in the rooms of the library.
Limit of loans
The regular limit of loans is 20 media per user. For further information, please refer to loan periods.
Literature research
In the Library of Mathematics, there are several types of literature: books (partially also available as eBooks), omnibus volumes, journals, audio-visual media. For searching a certain publication, please use the corresponding subitem of the page Catalog.
The Bonn University Library offers subject-based dates for literature research at regular intervals. They are announced on the Facheinstiegs-Seite Mathematik of the Bonn University Library.

Loan
A library card is required for borrowing publications (see also application).
Please take publications out of the shelves by yourself. You can borrow the publications at the library staff in the foyer of the Library of Mathematics.
Not all publications can be borrowed. (see also loan restrictions) Please observe the loan periods.
Loan period
You find the loan periods on the page loan periods, charges. When exceeding the loan period, overdue fines are charged. Renewals are only partially possible.
Loan restrictions
Books of the loan stock and the textbook collection can be borrowed, though the latter ones only by students.
Journals, books from the seminar shelf and Rara books (books published until 1945) can not be borrowed.
All publications on the first floor of the Library of Mathematics can only be borrowed restrictedly (except the books of the Nova-room which can not be borrowed).

Lockers
Coats, baggage and umbrellas must not be taken into the library. They can be stored in the lockers next to the entrance of the library until the end of the opening hours. Keys for the lockers can be borrowed against an identification card for one day. Please observe the terms Schließfachordnung!
Loss of the library card
Please inform us immediately after having lost your library card because you are liable for misuse!
Lost properties
Please give lost properties to the library staff in the foyer of the library.

Malfunction of a computer
If you notice a malfunction of an internet computer, please inform the library staff.
Mobile phones
To avoid unnecessary noise, please turn off your mobile phones in the library. It is not either allowed to call by your laptop.

Opening hours
The library's opening hours can be found on the footer of the page home.
P
Password
The password is beside the user number an additional identification property that is assigned when logging in into the bonnus portal for the first time. You can change your password in the user account of the bonnus portal at any time.
Plan of site
The plan of site of the Library of Mathematics can be found on the page directions.
Printers
Students of mathematics and members of the Mathematical Institute can use the printers installed in the library at no charge. The places where the printers are installed are listed on the page printers, copiers.

Rara
Rara denotes rare and mostly older books and journals (until 1945) that can not be borrowed because of their value.
Renewal
You can check in your user account of the bonnus portal if borrowed books can be renewed. A renewal can exclusively be executed in your user account of the bonnus portal.
Return of books
Please return the borrowed media during the regular opening hours until the loan period's end at the latest. Please check the correctness and completeness of the return by the receipt.

Scanners
In the library, there are two color scanners available for free use. Media can be scanned up to the size Din-A3. See also scanners
Shelfmark
The shelfmark is a combination of letters and numbers that is used for finding books. It is shown for every exemplar of a publication in the bonnus portal.
Smoking
To savor your top-quality cigars, small cigars and cigarettes to the fullest, we ask you to smoke outside the building because smoking is generally not permitted in all public facilities of the state North Rhine-Westphalia since 1st October, 2008.

Textbook collection
The textbook collection contains multiple exemplars of mathematical books for bachelor students studying mathematics as a major or subsidiary subject. The books of the textbook collection can only be borrowed by students of the University of Bonn.
Thesis
Bachelor, master and diploma thesis of students of mathematics in Bonn as well as phd and habilitation thesis can be found on the first floor.
U
User account
As a registered user, you can access your user account as part of the bonnus portal. You have to enter your user number and password to log in. If you borrow publications, they are shown in your user account.

You can find your user number on the rear side of your library card.
Using the library
The Library of Mathematics is open to all lecturers and students of the University of Bonn as well as to other interested people. Books and journals can be taken out of the shelves and inspected free of formalities. For borrowing books and other publications, a library card is required.
